Shipping
RoRo vs Container
Two ways to ship from Yokohama â we'll recommend the right one for your route and vehicle.
RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off)
The car drives onto a purpose-built vehicle ship and parks in dedicated decks. Cheaper, faster, and the standard choice for most exports.
Container (20ft / 40ft)
The car is loaded inside a sealed shipping container. More expensive but offers protection, security, and lets you ship spare parts alongside.
Documentation
What you receive with the car
Originals are couriered to you (or your customs broker) once full payment clears.
Export Certificate (Yushutsu Shomeisho)
Issued by the Japanese authority. Proves the vehicle has been formally deregistered for export.
Deregistration Certificate
Japanese Land Transport Bureau confirmation that the car is no longer registered in Japan.
Commercial Invoice
Sale price, currency, terms (FOB/CIF), buyer & seller details. Used by destination customs for duty calculation.
Bill of Lading (B/L)
Shipping carrier's receipt and contract of carriage. Required to release the vehicle at destination port.
JEVIC / JAAI Pre-shipment Inspection
Independent third-party inspection report required by Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique and others.
Auction Sheet
Original Japanese-language inspection grade sheet from the auction yard. Translated copy provided on request.

Understanding Japanese auction grades
Cars in Japanese auctions are graded on a standard scale. Here's what each one means.
| Grade | Condition | What it means |

| S / 6 | Brand new | Under 1 year old, less than 10,000 km, like-new condition. |
| 5 | Like new | Excellent condition, minimal wear, less than 30,000 km. |
| 4.5 | Excellent | Very clean, minor scuffs only. Most popular grade for export. |
| 4 | Good | Above-average for age. Some wear but well maintained. |
| 3.5 | Average | Typical used-car condition for the age â minor scratches, some dents. |
| 3 | Fair | Visible wear, multiple minor issues. Higher mileage typical. |
| R / RA | Repaired | Has been repaired (accident history). Disclosed and priced accordingly. |
| 2 / 1 | Poor | Significant damage or wear. Usually only for parts or projects. |

All listed prices are FOB Yokohama â the cost of the vehicle delivered onto the ship at Yokohama port. Freight, marine insurance, destination port charges and your country's customs duties are quoted separately based on your route.
Always. Tell us the chassis number and we'll send 30+ photos covering exterior, interior, engine bay, undercarriage and the original auction sheet â usually within 2 hours during Yokohama business hours.
Yes. We have buying licenses at USS Tokyo, JAA, TAA and 30+ other Japanese auction houses. Tell us the model, year range, max budget and target auction grade â we'll bid and report results back to you.
We strongly recommend marine insurance (typically 1.5% of FOB value) â it covers shipping damage and total loss. Take photos within 24 hours of arrival and file a claim through us. We have a strong track record of fair settlements.
Deposits are refundable minus third-party fees already incurred (auction commission, JEVIC inspection) up to 7 days after payment. Once the vehicle is loaded onto the vessel, cancellations are not possible.
